Yen Tabbed Captain of Women's Golf

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Lauren Austin, the Liu Family Head Coach of Women's Golf, has announced that Ashley Yen has been selected as team captain for the 2025-26 academic year.

A consistent leader on and off the course, Yen has emerged as a steady presence within the program since arriving in New Haven. Her leadership style, marked by thoughtfulness, initiative, and a team-first mentality, earned the respect of both teammates, ultimately leading to her selection as captain.

"Since Ashley's arrival on campus, she has sought out opportunities that have continued to develop her skills in leading others," said Austin on Yen's captaincy. "She is an extremely supportive teammate, strong communicator, and seeks to do the very best for those around her. She is passionate about the success of our program and her teammates and is beyond prepared to successfully serve as captain next season."

Off the course, Yen is equally accomplished. A statistics and data science major, she has been recognized for her academic excellence as a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Scholar All-American.

"It means so much to have the opportunity to serve as captain next year," said Yen. "Being part of this team has truly been the most meaningful part of my experience at Yale, and I'm constantly inspired by my teammates' drive, support, and dedication. I'm so proud of what we have built so far, and with three incoming first-years, I'm excited for what's ahead and to see what we will accomplish."

Yen will lead a roster poised for growth, looking to build on the momentum and culture of success established in recent seasons.
