Bulldogs Fall in Fairfield

Ava Poinsett finished with team-high in kills for second straight match

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- The Bulldogs dropped a three-set match at Fairfield on Wednesday night.  The scores of the match were 28-26, 25-18 and 25-20.

Match summary:
  • Yale faced a NCAA Tournament qualifier for the second straight match.  
  • Ava Poinsett, fresh off earning a spot on the Villanova Classic All-Tournament Team, led the Bulldogs tonight with 13 kills.
  • Yale had three set points in the first set with the help of two late kills from Laurece Abraham and one from Lauren Kellen. 
  • Abraham had six kills and hit .500 on 10 swings in two sets played.
  • Arya Jue had 10 digs and reached double figures for the third straight match to start the season.
  • Bethanie Wu is averaging 9.3 assists per set after dishing out 27 tonight.   
Next up:
  • The Bulldogs return to New Haven for their home opener on Friday against UConn, who have started the season 6-0.
