Bulldogs Come Up Short Against San Diego State

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Yale men's soccer team wrapped up its California road trip with a 2-0 loss at San Diego State on Monday evening. The Aztecs scored off a pair of corner kicks to down the Bulldogs in a closely-contested matchup.

With the win, San Diego State improved to 3-5 overall. The Bulldogs dropped to 0-4-1 early on this season.

"Like Friday, we feel like this is a game we deserved more from. We took more positive strides again tonight in being able to retain the ball for longer periods which allowed us to have the ball in dangerous areas of the field more often," said Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "We earned a lot of good moments of possession around the box, as well as several deep throw-ins and fouls that we need to get better end product from. Our territory improved but we are still missing the final moment, however, I know we have the quality in this team to turn that around."

How it Happened
  • 3' | San Diego State got on the scoreboard with a goal by Christian Engmann off a corner kick from Lleyton Imparato. 1-0 SDSU
  • 33' | The Bulldogs earned their first shot on goal courtesy of Joseph Farouz, but the attempt was saved by SDSU goalkeeper, Vincent Fournier.
  • 87' | With time winding down, SDSU added a goal by Baptiste Boit off another corner kick. 2-0 SDSU
