PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 18 Yale field hockey team overcame an early 1-0 deficit to open Ivy League play with a 3-1 win over Brown on a sunny afternoon Saturday at Goldberger Family Field. The Bulldogs outshot the Bears 17-6, including 11-0 in the second half.
Yale improves to 5-0 overall (1-0 in the Ivy League), while Brown falls to 1-3 (0-1 in the Ivy League). The last Yale team to start a season 5-0 was the 1995 squad, which went 7-0 to start the season and finished 13-6, setting the school record for wins.

- The Bulldogs took the lead on a penalty corner goal with 10:35 left. Massée inserted to senior back Maddy Zavalick, who set up Whittington for a shot that senior forward Poppy Beales tipped past a prone Parker.
- Venter drew a penalty stroke with 6:50 left, but Bears goalkeeper Kylee Delmonte – who came on specifically for the stroke – made a diving stop on Whittington to keep the Bulldogs' lead at 2-1.
- Brown pulled its goalie for a kicking back with 4:40 left in the game. Just 24 seconds later, sophomore midfielder Victoria Collee scored off an assist from sophomore midfielder Kaitlyn Chang to put the game out of reach.

- Yale has now won seven of the last eight in the series vs. Brown.
- Prior to Saturday, the last four games between these two teams had been decided by one goal – three of them in overtime.
- Parker finished with six saves, while Yale first-year goalkeeper Amelie Schwarzkopf made two.
