NEW HAVEN, Conn. - For the third time this season, Yale men's basketball captain
Nick Townsend was named Ivy League Player of the Week, as announced on Tuesday afternoon.

Townsend delivered an outstanding performance during a perfect 2–0 weekend for the Bulldogs, averaging 22.5 points per game while shooting an efficient 14-of-22 from the field and 8-of-11 from three-point range. He also went 9-of-10 at the free throw line and added 16 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals across the two games.

In Saturday's win over Cornell, the senior scored 20 points on 8-of-10 shooting, knocking down 4-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc, while contributing eight rebounds, four assists, and a steal. He followed that effort with a team-high 25 points in Monday's victory over Columbia, shooting 6-of-12 from the field and 4-of-6 from three, tying a season high with nine made free throws. He also recorded eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Townsend has now scored in double figures in eight straight games and has reached the 20-point mark multiple times this season. He currently sits at 979 career points, just 21 shy of the 1,000-point milestone.

Townsend and the Bulldogs will return to the court at Penn for an ESPNU-televised clash on Saturday, Jan. 24. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
