Townsend Shines in Milestone Night as Bulldogs Top Dartmouth

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Nick Townsend reached career milestones of 1,000 points and 500 rebounds while recording a double-double as the Yale men's basketball team picked up its fourth consecutive victory with an 83-68 win over Dartmouth on Friday night at John J. Lee Amphitheater.

With the victory, Yale improved to 16-3 (5-1 Ivy), and Dartmouth dropped to 9-10 (3-3 Ivy).
 
Turning Point
After Dartmouth scored five consecutive points to narrow Yale's lead to 55-53 with 9:47 remaining in the second half, the Bulldogs' offense erupted from beyond the arc. Yale sank four straight three-pointers, including two by Riley Fox, pushing the lead to 64-53. The Bulldogs maintained their hot streak from long range, shooting 61.5% (8-of-13) in the second half to secure the victory.
 
Notable Performances
  • Isaac Celiscar led the team with 17 points, shooting 6-of-9 from the field, going a perfect 4-of-4 from the free-throw line, and adding three rebounds and three assists.
  • Townsend recorded 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while also leading the team with 10 rebounds and contributing seven assists.
  • Trevor Mullin scored 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting, making all three of his three-point attempts, and added three rebounds.
  • Casey Simmons added nine points on 4-of-7 shooting, along with three rebounds.
  • Fox and Jordan Brathwaite each contributed eight points.
  • Yale shot an impressive 66.7% (20-of-30) from the field in the second half.
  • The Bulldogs tallied 38 points in the paint.

  • On the team's performance: "I thought it was a really good team win by us. I thought our offense was a little frantic in the first half, and we settled down at halftime, and came out and shared the ball beautifully and made a lot of open shots, which was all the difference in our game."
  • On Townsend's performance: "You know he's just terrific, and you come to expect him to do this every night. He's just done a great job. He's a really tough cover and very hard to guard."
