NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's soccer team carried a 2-1 lead into halftime behind goals from
Eloise Stone and
Abigail Solomon, but Columbia scored twice late in the second half to rally for a 3-2 win over the Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium.
With the victory, Columbia improved to 5-6-3 (4-1-0 Ivy), and Yale dropped to 5-9-0 (0-5-0 Ivy).
"Today was a tale of two halves, said
Sarah Martinez, the Loring Family Head Coach of Women's Soccer. "I thought we started the game very well and were on the front foot the entire first half. They were prepared and executed our game plan great. I wish we were more purposeful in our transition moments early in the game to punish mistakes but was very happy with those 45 minutes."
"Disappointed in the way we surrendered in the second half and allowed Columbia to take the momentum without us ever getting it back," Martinez added. "To concede with three minutes left in each half is a mental lapse that we have seen before this year and have to tighten up."
