Benedetto, Pinckney Named NEISA Open Sailors of the Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Senior Morgan Pinckney and sophomore Ella Benedetto were named as the NEISA Open Sailors of the Week for their performances at the Atlantic Coast Championship over the weekend.

Pinckney and Benedetto won the strongest A-division of the fall season at the Open Atlantic Coast Championship, hosted by Brown University at the Ted Turner '60 Sailing Pavilion at the Edgewood Yacht Club, leading Yale to the overall victory. With the top-18 teams in open fleet racing on hand and a lot of postponements ashore due to no wind, the duo was able to turn it on each day in the light seabreeze conditions each afternoon and win their division with seven top-five finishes in the 10 races sailed, and only 45 points overall for low point at the championship. Their consistency kept Yale in the hunt to win the championship heading into the last B-division race, with Yale's B-division locking up the title in the last race over the Boston College Eagles and Brown Bears.

The Bulldogs are back in action at a trio of regattas on Saturday, Oct. 31
