Bulldogs Play to 1-1 Tie Against No. 14 Cornell

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with No. 14 Cornell on Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium. Both teams converted penalty kicks in the final nine minutes of regulation to earn one point in the conference standings.

With the draw, Yale's record stands at 4-6-4 overall with an Ivy League mark of 2-1-3. The Bulldogs are currently in second place in the conference standings with just one regular-season game remaining. Cornell moved to 10-3-1 overall with a 5-0-1 Ivy League record. The Big Red have clinched the regular-season conference championship and home-field advantage throughout the Ivy League Tournament.

"This group keeps growing more and more each week," said Kylie Stannard, the 5K Corral Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "No surprise at all with the incredible effort and buy-in we showed today to get a well-earned point against a very good Cornell team. We came so close to getting all three points and I thought we were extremely unlucky with their penalty at the end.

"We came away disappointed, but it's a good sign this group is continuing to show what it takes to give ourselves a chance to win these types of games," Stannard said. "The great thing is that we are capable of playing even better in moments, but there is no doubt this group is capable of taking those next steps."
