NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Junior quarterback Dante Reno of the Yale football team has been selected as this week's New England Football Writers Association Gold Helmet Award winner, presented by the Jack Grinold/Eastern Massachusetts Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
Reno earns his second Gold Helmet Award of the season after leading Yale to a 41-24 comeback victory over Merrimack. He is the first Yale player to receive the honor twice in a season since Kurt Rawlings in 2019.
The Bulldogs erased a 21-7 second-quarter deficit and outscored the Warriors 34-3 over the remainder of the game.
Reno threw for 298 yards and four touchdowns, including a 50-yard completion, while adding a career-high 39 rushing yards. His rushing total surpassed his entire total from the 2025 season.
Yale returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 10 when they host Dartmouth for a noontime matchup. The game will air live in ESPNU.Â
