PHILADELPHIA – The Yale women's tennis team opened the ITA Sectional Championships, hosted by Penn, with a strong showing on day one, as the doubles pair of Orly Ogilvy and Leena Friedman advanced to the main draw quarterfinals, while Friedman secured a spot in the singles round of 16.

• Friedman/Ogilvy (Yale) def. Varsha Vedula/Jo-Leen Saw (Penn) 6-2, 6-2

Singles

• Friedman (Yale) def. No. 4 seed Eleana Yu (Duke) 7-6 (4), 6-4
