Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Bulldogs Win 14th Straight Game with Shutout Over Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. – First year Samson Frey was once again outstanding in net, leading the Yale women's ice hockey team to a 2-0 win over No. 8 Princeton. The No. 9-ranked Bulldogs won their 14th straight game and took over sole possession of first place in the ECAC Hockey standings.

With the victory, Yale improved to 22-7 overall with a 16-5 mark in conference play. The Bulldogs have not lost in 2026 and have scored 59 goals over that stretch. Princeton dropped to 20-8 overall with a record of 15-6 in ECAC games.

Conference Scenario
With one game remaining in the regular season, Yale sits in first place in the conference standings with 45 points. They are trailed by Princeton (44) and Quinnipiac (43). The Bulldogs have clinched a first-round bye in the ECAC playoffs and have a chance to win the conference title on Saturday afternoon. With a regulation victory over Quinnipiac in the regular season finale, Yale would clinch its second-ever ECAC regular season title. The Bulldogs can also secure a share of the title with an overtime victory and a Princeton regulation win.

Quoting Bolding
"It was a great team effort tonight, and we held tight defensively, playing a really complete game," said Mark Bolding, Susan Cavanagh Head Coach of Women's Hockey. "Ray's goal got us off to a nice start, and we never looked back."

Scoring Summary
  • P1, 5:14 | YALE GOAL! Carina DiAntonio took the puck into the slot and sent a pass to Jordan Ray at the far post. After her initial shot was stopped by the Princeton goaltender, Ray put in her own rebound to give Yale the lead. 1-0 YALE
  • P2, 7:44 | YALE GOAL! First year Molly Boyle dug out the puck near the blue line in the attacking zone. She fired a wrist shot toward the net. The puck was deflected into the back of the net by teammate Mariya Rauf, giving the Bulldogs a two-goal lead. 2-0 YALE
Game Notes
  • Yale won its 14th straight game, only one win away from matching the team's longest win streak since the 2022-23 season, when the Bulldogs won 15 consecutive games.
  • The Bulldogs defeated the Tigers for the second time in conference play this season. Yale previously defeated Princeton 4-3 in overtime at home on Oct. 25. Because of the two wins, the Elis hold the conference tiebreaker over their Ivy rivals.
  • Yale now has 22 season wins, the third-most in program history.
  • Frey continued to be difference-maker in net for Yale. The first year improved to 14-0 overall and has registered five shutouts this season. Against Princeton, Frey stopped all 23 shots, including several down the stretch, to seal the victory.
  • Ray scored her 53rd career goal, tying former teammate Anna Bargman for fourth on the Bulldogs' all-time list.
  • Both DiAntonio and Ray have been remarkably consistent, with point streaks of 16 and 15 games, respectively.
  • Rauf tallied her seventh goal of the year.
  • Boyle added her 21st assist of the season. She is tied with Ray atop the ECAC leaderboard in in-conference assists.
Up Next
"We have to turn around quickly and get back to work at Quinnipiac with something on the line," Bolding said.
