Double-Double for Meng, 26 Points for Moore in 82-54 Win vs. Dartmouth

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Behind the first career double-double from junior forward Mary Meng and 26 points from sophomore guard Ciniya Moore, the Yale women's basketball team cruised past Dartmouth 82-54 Saturday night at Lee Amphitheater. Meng had a game-high 14 rebounds and 10 points, making her one of four Bulldogs to score in double-digits.

This was Yale's largest margin of victory (28) since a 36 point win (78-42) over the Big Green on Feb. 24, 2024. The Bulldogs led by as many as 21 in the first half, including a first quarter in which they outscored the Big Green 27-11. Yale's halftime lead was 41-26.

Dartmouth could only cut the deficit as close as 14 in the third quarter, with Moore scoring seven of her points in that frame and sophomore guard Ke'iara Odume adding five. At one point the Bulldogs had the lead back up to 21, and they were ahead 59-40 heading into the fourth.

A 6-0 Big Green run in the fourth quarter got Dartmouth within 13 with 6:15 to play, but a three-pointer from Moore jump-started a 13-1 run for the Bulldogs to leave no doubt about the game's outcome.

Yale improves to 6-17 (2-8 Ivy League) while Dartmouth drops to 10-13 (1-9 Ivy League).

  • Sophomore guard Marisa Chapman added 10 rebounds, the third time this season she has reached double digits in rebounds.
  • Junior forward Luisa Vydrova scored 11 points. She has scored in double digits in 15 games this season, including each of the last three.

QUOTING DALILA ESHE, YALE'S JOEL E. SMILOW, CLASS OF 1954 HEAD COACH OF WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
  • On the team having a 49-27 rebounding advantage: "That's an incredible effort. Any time you can go into the second game of back-to-back games and give that kind of effort, that's a testament to our grit."
  • On captain Kiley Capstraw's contributions, including 14 points, six rebounds, six assists and three steals: "She is our Swiss Army knife. She's our captain, she's our floor general, and she impacts the game in so many ways."
  • On holding Dartmouth guard Zeynep Ozel – who scored 30 against Yale last time – to 11 points: "We started the first quarter of our last game really flat, not tuned in to our scout. This game we were really locked in from the start, and the players did not want to allow her to score 30 again."
  • On having 22 assists, the second-most in a game for the team this season: "We emphasized the fact that they are going to double-team. So make the game easy; find each other."
