First-Years Shine as Bulldogs Defeat Marist in Home Opener

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sean Grogan led the way with a team-high four goals as nine different Bulldogs found the net, lifting the Yale men's lacrosse team to a 15–9 victory over Marist in its home opener Tuesday night at Reese Stadium.
 
Grogan had a stellar five-point night (four goals, one assist), powering a Yale attack led by its first-years, who netted seven of the team's goals. The Bulldogs also broke the game open with a seven-goal surge in the third quarter.
 
With the win, Yale improves to 1-1, and Marist drops to 0-2.

  • Q1 | Moynihan got the Bulldogs off to a quick start, tallying a goal 32 seconds into the game. Marist though, countered with two straight scores to take a 2-1 lead at the 10:53 mark. Yale then rallied, with goals from Grogan and Sheehan giving the Bulldogs a one-goal edge heading into the second quarter. 3-2 YALE
  • Q2 | Yale continued to push the pace, with Sheehan and Grogan scoring back-to-back to spark four consecutive Bulldog goals, giving them a 7-2 lead at 5:32. Marist answered with two goals, but Yale still carried a three-goal advantage into halftime. 7-4 YALE
