NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's hockey team fell to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), 4-2, at Ingalls Rink. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 8-21-1 overall and 7-14-1 in ECAC Hockey play, while the Engineers improved to 11-22-1 overall and 8-13-1 in conference action.
Period 1: Yale 0, RPI 0
- Despite a combined 17 shots on goal, both sides were held off the scoresheet in a scoreless opening frame.
Period 2: RPI 3, Yale 0
- 1:10 (RPI) – The Engineers struck early in the period, capitalizing on a feed from behind the net to open the scoring.
- 8:11 (RPI) – A shot from the point found its way through traffic to double the lead.
- 18:24 (RPI) – RPI added its third unanswered goal late in the period to take control heading into the second intermission.
Period 3: RPI 4, Yale 2
- 10:46 (YAL) – Jojo Tanaka-Campbell banked a pass off the boards to Elan Bar-Lev-Wise, who carried the puck on a 2-on-1 with James Shannon. After a give-and-go exchange, Bar-Lev-Wise finished the play to cut into the deficit.
- 17:22 (RPI) – The Engineers answered with another point shot to restore a three-goal advantage.
- 19:10 (YAL) – With the extra attacker on, Zachary Wagnon sent a pass from the point to David Andreychuk, who fired home a shot from the left face-off dot to make it a two-goal game. RPI's three-goal second period ultimately proved to be the difference.

The Bulldogs earned the No. 10 seed and will travel to face No. 7 Colgate in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament on Saturday, March 7. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y.
