NEW HAVEN, Conn. – An early deficit proved to be too much for the No. 5 Yale women's lacrosse team to overcome Tuesday afternoon against Army West Point at Reese Stadium. The Black Knights jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first 12:06, then withstood a Yale comeback attempt and held on for a 12-8 victory. The Army West Point win snaps a streak of 11 straight home wins for Yale.
Army West Point's dynamic duo of midfielders Brigid Duffy (4-3-7) and Allison Reilly (2-3-5) combined for 12 points Tuesday, including four goals as part of that 5-0 start. Yale answered with a four-goal run that included a pair of goals from senior attacker
Ashley Newman to get within 5-4, but Army West Point followed with a 6-0 run to establish control of the game.
Yale falls to 9-2 (3-0 Ivy League) on the season while Army improves to 9-2 (4-0 Patriot League).
