NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale men's ice hockey team will travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to play Colgate in a winner-take-all ECAC Tournament Opening Round game this Saturday, March 7, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
Scouting Yale
- Yale finished the regular season with an overall record of 8-21-1 and a 7-14-1 record in conference play.
- Ronan O'Donnell and David Chen enter postseason play tied for the team lead in points with 22 each. O'Donnell leads the team in goals with 11.
- Chen and Donovan Frias are also tied for the team lead in assists with 15.
- Goaltender Noah Pak recorded 564 saves across 20 starts this season with a .901 save percentage.
- Dylan Hunt led the Bulldogs in blocked shots as a first-year player with 45.
- Yale finished third in the ECAC in shooting percentage at 11.4%.
- Yale is tied for the fourth-fewest penalty minutes in the nation with 231.
Scouting Colgate
- Colgate finished the regular season with an overall record of 12-18-4 and a 9-10-3 record in the ECAC.
- The Raiders have five players tied for the team lead in points with 26 each. Simon Labelle and Max Nagel are tied for the lead in goals with 11 each. Ryan Sullivan is the team's top assister with 19 on the season.
- Goaltender Reid Dyck recorded 683 saves across 24 starts this season with an .898 save percentage and one shutout.
- Antonio Fernandez led Colgate in blocked shots with 45.
- Colgate is the 10th-oldest team in the country, with each player being an average of 22.8 years old.
A Look at History
- The Bulldogs went 0-2 against the Raiders during the regular season. Yale fell to Colgate in overtime, 4-3, in Hamilton on Nov. 14, followed by a 6-3 loss at Ingalls Rink on Jan. 31.
- Yale is 2-8 all-time against Colgate in the ECAC Hockey Playoffs. However, the Bulldogs' two victories came in winner-take-all scenarios: a 1-0 victory in the 1997 preliminary round and a 4-0 victory at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in the 2011 ECAC semifinals.
- Dating back to 1990, Yale is 3-5 in ECAC Tournament games as the No. 10 seed. Its last win came in 2023 when the Bulldogs defeated RPI 4-1 on the road to advance to the quarterfinals.
- Colgate has lost its last four ECAC Tournament games at home, getting swept out of the quarterfinals the past two seasons, scoring only five goals total in the process.
