Bulldogs Fall to Colgate in Opening Round of ECAC Hockey Tournament

HAMILTON, N.Y. – The No. 10-seeded Yale men's hockey team fell to No. 7-seeded Colgate, 3-2, in the opening round of the ECAC Hockey Tournament. The Bulldogs finish the season with a record of 8-22-1.

Period 1: Yale 1, Colgate 0

8:56 (YAL) – Micah Berger's drop pass to David Chen in the offensive zone set up the first goal of the game. Chen made a nifty move around the first defender and patiently found Iisai Pesonen at the post. Pesonen's initial tip-in attempt caromed off the back wall, but he converted on the rebound for the opening tally.

Period 2: Yale 2, Colgate 2

6:45 (YAL) – Yale's second goal came after an aggressive forecheck from David Andreychuk. After poking the puck away from a Raiders defender, Andreychuk dropped a pass to Chen, who one-touched it to Ronan O'Donnell for the finish.
11:54 (COL) – The Raiders trimmed Yale's lead to one with an even-strength goal.
14:44 (COL) – Colgate tied the game past the midway point of the period.

Period 3: Colgate 3, Yale 2

15:57 (COL) – The Raiders scored their third unanswered goal, which proved to be the difference-maker.

Notes

Noah Pak made 37 saves in goal for Yale, his eighth 30-plus save performance of the season.
David Chen recorded two assists, his 16th and 17th of the year.
Ronan O'Donnell scored his team-leading 12th goal of the season.
Micah Berger tallied his 11th assist of the year.
Iisai Pesonen led the Bulldogs with six shots on goal.
