LAKE PLACID, N.Y. – The Yale women's ice hockey team will face Quinnipiac in the championship game of the ECAC Hockey Tournament on Saturday evening at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 5 p.m., with the tournament title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Championship on the line.
The top-seeded Bulldogs advanced to the title game after a commanding 7-2 victory over Cornell in the semifinals on Friday afternoon. Yale scored four unanswered goals after allowing an early tally and added three more in the third period to secure the program's second-ever appearance in the conference championship game.
No. 3 Quinnipiac earned its spot in the final after defeating No. 2 Princeton 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal matchup.
Saturday's contest will mark the latest chapter in the rivalry between Yale and Quinnipiac, two programs separated by less than 10 miles in Connecticut. The teams met twice during the regular season, with the Bobcats prevailing in both games.
Yale enters the championship matchup with momentum following an explosive offensive performance in the semifinals. The Bulldogs have been among the top offensive teams in the conference this season and have received contributions throughout the lineup during their postseason run.
A victory on Saturday would give Yale its first ECAC Tournament championship in program history and secure a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Bulldogs previously reached the conference final in 2022.
The ECAC Hockey Championship game will be played at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid, the historic venue that hosted the famed Miracle on Ice during the 1980 Winter Olympics.
