Five-Run Third Fuels Yale to Split at Columbia

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yale softball team bounced back in game two to earn a doubleheader split at Columbia on Saturday. After dropping the opener 6-0, the Bulldogs responded with a 6-2 victory behind a five-run third inning. Yale moves to 12-24 overall and 4-10 in Ivy League play, while the Lions are now 14-17 overall and 6-5 in the conference.

Game 1: Columbia 6, Yale 0
  • B3 – Columbia broke through with four runs on three hits, taking advantage of two Yale errors. (COL 4, YAL 0)
  • B4 – The Lions added on with an RBI double down the left field line. (COL 5, YAL 0)
  • B5 – A solo home run extended the lead in the fifth. (COL 6, YAL 0)
Game 2: Yale 6, Columbia 2
  • B1 – Columbia struck first with an RBI single in the opening inning. (COL 1, YAL 0)
  • T3 – Yale answered emphatically. Ellie Joseph evened the score with a solo home run on a full count. With two on and no outs, Jane Littleton launched her first career home run—a three-run shot to left—to put the Bulldogs in front.
