NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's lacrosse team clinched a spot in the Ivy League Tournament with a 7-4 win vs. Penn Saturday afternoon at Reese Stadium. The game featured the last two teams that were unbeaten in Ivy League play, as both teams came into the game with 4-0 Ivy records.
The Quakers scored three times in the game's first 11:25, but just once after that. Backed by 11 saves from sophomore goalkeeper
Niamh Pfaff, the Yale defense held Penn to its lowest goal total of the season – by four goals. Yale tied its season high with 13 caused turnovers, including four by senior defender
Emmy Pascal.
Yale's excellent defense gave the Bulldog offense plenty of time to chip away at Penn's early 3-1 lead, and by halftime the game was knotted 3-3. The Bulldogs outscored the Quakers 3-0 in the third and never looked back.
Yale improves to 11-2 (5-0 Ivy League) on the season while Penn falls to 6-6 (4-1 IvyLeague).

- First-year attacker Kate Gould led Yale with two goals.
- Junior attacker Ashley Kiernan had a game-high two assists and three points.

- After Penn scored at 3:35 of the first to go ahead 3-1, the Bulldogs held the Quakers scoreless for the next 34:13 and took a 6-3 lead.

- Loyola (Md.), currently the No. 18 team in the country, is the only other team to hold Penn to fewer than nine goals this year (Feb. 28, a 10-8 Loyola win).
- This was Penn's lowest goal total since Mar. 4, 2017 (a 10-4 loss to Cornell).
- Pfaff tied her career high in saves with 11.
- Kiernan earned her 100th career point with an assist at 12:45 of the third. She finished the day with 101 career points (59-42-101).
- Pascal set a career high with six ground balls and tied her career high with four caused turnovers.
- Pascal earned her first career assist, setting up Gould's goal at 8:15 of the first after finishing off a clear.
- Yale is now 7-1 at home.
- Yale ends the day all alone in first place in the Ivy League with a 5-0 record, while Penn is 4-1. There are two league games remaining in the regular season for each team.
