"The past few months have shown significant growth for our team," said Kevin Cahill, Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of Football. "We've spent the spring establishing the identity of Team 153, and while we've improved in the weight room and on the field, we know the job isn't done. Our plan for the coming months will show exactly what Team 153 is all about."
Yale's 2025 season was historic on the field. The Bulldogs finished the season at 9-3 overall and 6-1 in Ivy play, and defeated Harvard to claim the Ivy League title and the conference's first-ever automatic bid into the NCAA FCS Playoffs. It was Yale's 19th Ivy Championship and 72nd all-time win over Harvard.
In a year full of firsts, they also won their first-ever NCAA FCS playoff game. Yale mounted a dramatic comeback against No. 15 Youngstown State, scoring 29 unanswered points after trailing 35-7 at halftime to secure the victory in the first round. They fell to the eventual national champion, Montana State, 21-13.
