Women's Golf Adds Two Newcomers Ahead of 2026-27

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Lauren Austin, Liu Family Head Coach of Women's Golf, has announced two additions to the squad ahead of the 2026-27 academic year.

"I am thrilled to have Hanny and Serena join us in New Haven," said Austin. "They bring diverse, international competitive experience and have had the privilege of playing on their respective countries' national teams. The determination and mental fortitude they possess position them to contribute to our success immediately. They are both working hard and very intentionally to be ready for our fall season and we cannot wait!"

Before Yale
  • Attended Beijing Haidian Foreign Language Tengfei Academy.
  • Named a Rolex Scholastic Junior All-American.
Competition
  • Represents China in international competition.
  • Competed at the 2026 Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific Championship.
  • Won the 2025 Nemacolin Junior Championship.
  • Won the 2022 China Amateur Open.
  • Competed the 2023 LPGA Shanghai.
Personal
  • Daughter of Xiaoqin Liu.
  • Enjoys photography, crocheting and boxing.
  • Younger sister also plays golf.

Before Yale
  • Attended Wycombe Abbey School in England, where she competed in golf, tennis, and squash.
  • Career-low round of 69 (par 72).
  • Served as a school prefect during her junior and senior years.
  • Earned commendations for academic excellence in all four years of high school.
Competition
  • Represents Malta in international competition.
  • Competed for Malta at the European Team Shield Championships in 2024 and 2025, winning five of six matches.
  • Competed at the R&A Girls Amateur Championship in 2025.
  • Won the U-18 Girls European Masters in Spain and earned a World Amateur Golf Ranking.
  • Won the U-18 Farnham Mixed Open in England.
  • Won The Links Golf Course Ladies Club Championship in South Africa.
  • Won the U-14 English Girls Net Championship in England.
  • Finished runner-up at the 9Zero South African Ladies Stroke Play Championship.
  • Finished runner-up at the U-16 Midland Girls Stroke Play Championship.

  • Daughter of Orarin Falzon Sant Manduca and Philip Falzon Sant Manduca.
  • Enjoys playing tennis and squash and is an avid runner.
  • Comes from a family of golfers and participates in annual family golf championships.
