NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale women's crew team is set to compete on the international stage beginning Saturday in one of the world's most prestigious rowing events. The Bulldogs will field three entries at the 2026 Henley Royal Regatta: two eights in the Island Challenge Cup, including one that will race in the qualifying round on Saturday at 8:20 a.m. ET, and one eight in the Bridge Challenge Plate. After the qualifying races, the regatta events will take place over six days from Tuesday, June 30 through Sunday, July 5.
"Thanks to generous donors, alumni, parents and friends of YWC we are able to bring an unprecedented three YWC eights to race at Henley," said
Will Porter, Friends of YWC Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "It is by far the largest YWC group to race between the booms on the legendary Henley stretch."
"This team has earned the opportunity to race here through their hard work all year. We are excited to see how we match up against crews from around the world," added Porter. "Beyond the racing, this trip is an opportunity to spend valuable time together as a team and continue building the culture that defines Yale Women's Rowing. Experiences like Henley help shape athletes both on and off the water."
The Henley Royal Regatta, founded in 1839, is the best-known rowing regatta in the world, renowned for its match-racing. It is one of the highlights of the summer sporting and social calendar in the UK, as well as the rowing calendar internationally. Nearly 400 races are staged at the regatta, featuring Olympians and emerging stars from around the world.
