LEXINGTON, KY – The Yale volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for a 19th straight season, the organization announced on Thursday, July 23.

"It comes as no surprise to see our sport have more than 1,400 teams earn the AVCA Team Academic Award again this season," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon. "We are grateful for the dedication of the coaches and players who make both classroom and on-court success the lifeblood of their programs."

The award, sponsored by INTENT, recognizes teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale. The AVCA also celebrates programs in the top 20 percent of their division by recognizing them with Team Academic Honor Roll distinction, an honor earned by the Bulldogs.

"I'm very proud of our program's accomplishments in the classroom year after year," said Head Coach Erin Appleman. "Nineteen years of recognition from the AVCA is definitely part of what makes our 13 Ivy League Championships possible."

Yale opens the season on Friday, Sept. 4, against Hofstra.
