NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Following a standout career with the Yale men's basketball team, Casey Simmons '26 is taking his talents to the next level after signing a professional contract with Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa Baloncesto.
 
"I'm thrilled to see that Casey will continue to play the game that he loves," said James Jones, the Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of the Bulldogs. "He wanted to be in Spain, and I'm happy it worked out for him. I'm looking forward to following his pro career."
 
Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa Baloncesto is the professional basketball section of the historic Spanish multisport club Cultural y Deportiva Leonesa, which competes in the Segunda FEB and is based in León, Spain.
 
Simmons, who had a stellar campaign highlighted by his senior season, was tabbed the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year and garnered Honorable Mention All-Ivy accolades. He finished the season second on the team in blocks (18), fourth in rebounds (122), and averaged 10.2 points per game. Additionally, he scored in double figures in 17 games, highlighted by 17 points on 8-of-10 shooting in the Ivy League Tournament championship game and 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the NIT first round against UNCW. The Milton, Massachusetts native played in 91 games during his Yale career.
