NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Benjamin Johnson, the Cary Leeds Head Coach of Men's Tennis has announced that Jim Ji will serve as captain for the Bulldogs this season.
 
"We are excited to announce Jim Ji as Team Captain for the Men's Tennis Program," said Johnson. "It is a clear testament to Jim's knowledge and character that his peers selected him to lead this program. Jim has been a vital member of the team for the last three years, contributing both through his play on the court and his academic achievements in the classroom. We know Jim will uphold the long tradition of great team captains this year and beyond."
 
This past season, Ji picked up 12 wins in singles and six in doubles, seeing action at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles positions and No. 3 in doubles. He teamed up with former captain Eric Li in doubles and earned notable victories over Brown and Cornell. In 2024-25, Ji recorded 13 singles wins and 13 doubles victories while also capturing the singles title at the Ivy League ITA Masters Qualifying event. In 2023-24, he posted an impressive 22-8 singles record, including four wins in Ivy League play, and qualified for the ITA Super Regionals in singles.
 
Ji has also distinguished himself academically, earning CSC Academic All-District honors in each of the past two seasons. A three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, he has consistently excelled both on and off the court.
 
"It's a privilege and an honor to have been named captain," said Ji. "There is no better group of teammates and coaches I could ask to spend my final year with. I am excited for another year of growth, perseverance, and camaraderie with the team—and for an opportunity to leave a lasting impact on the program."
