Tailgating at the 137th Playing of The Game


PARKING FOR THE GAME, NOV. 20, IS SOLD OUT 

The Athletic Department provides round trip transportation for the all fans (masked required on buses at all times) from Payne Whitney Gym (PWG) and Phelps Gate (College Street | Chapel Street) to the Yale Bowl.
There is no charge for these buses. Shuttles begin at 8:45 a.m. 
 


Yale University is committed to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans, both in our venues and in the parking lots.

You are responsible for your conduct.

Yale University permits tailgating on football game days in designated areas, during specified hours, and under the conditions outlined in these Tailgating rules.
In addition, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, for 2021, there are additional Yale health and safety requirements; see COVID-19 section below.
 
Yale Event Staff, Parking Staff, Security Staff, and Law Enforcement will enforce our policies.
  • All guests' belongings including vehicles are subject to search by staff.
  • Persons visibly under the influence or impaired will not be admitted into the tailgate areas or the Yale Bowl.
  • Yale University reserves the right to alter and interpret regulations described below. 
  • Fans consuming alcohol must be at least 21 years of age; serving minors is prohibited.  Any fan in possession of alcohol in the tailgating areas may be asked to show valid identification/proof of age.

Hours of Operation
  • Tailgating begins three hours prior to kick-off when parking lots open (9 am) 
  • Tailgating will end at kick-off (12 pm)

The following items and activities are allowed
  • Gas Grills with a maximum propane cylinder size of 20 lbs.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons of legal drinking age, and in conformance with Connecticut State Laws, City of New Haven Ordinances, and University Policies
  • Tables, pop-up tents, and tailgate chairs 
 
The following items and activities are NOT allowed:
  • Kegs
  • Underage drinking
  • Glass containers
  • Commercial vehicles (U-hauls), RV's, Winnebagos and trucks
  • Open fires fueled by charcoal, wood, or other combustible materials of any kind
  • Amplified music
  • Electric or gas generators
  • Box trucks are not permitted in any of the Yale parking lots and will be re-routed back out onto the street

Each vehicle is permitted one parking space and the area directly behind the vehicle for tailgating. You may not block aisles or other vehicles from parking.
All tailgates should be cleaned up and trash placed in proper receptacles upon entering the Yale Bowl. 
 
Fans should practice good sportsmanship and be respectful in accordance with the Ivy League and NCAA policy. Profanity, racial, or sexist comments, or other intimidating actions directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches, or team representatives will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from Yale athletic facilities.  


Supplemental COVID-19 protocols:
  • Fans MUST NOT come to the Yale Athletics complex if they are not feeling well and have symptoms of COVID-19:  https://yalehealth.yale.edu/covid-19-symptoms .  
  • Additional hand sanitizer stations have been added throughout the athletics complex. Wash your hands before and after drinking and eating. 
  • Fall outdoor sport venues will operate at normal capacities. Distancing between unrelated persons is recommended, where practicable. 
  • While outdoors in crowds at the Yale Bowl complex (and not actively eating or drinking), masks are encouraged.   
  • Unvaccinated persons must distance six feet from others and mask at all times.
  • Masks are required in all indoor spaces (including the rest rooms). 
  • Pre-game tailgates must occur outdoors only. We will not be able to reserve space for tailgates at any of our indoor facilities at this time.
  • All current and applicable University COVID-19 policies and protocols must be followed regardless of visitor and program participant vaccination status.
