Ray Guarino

Ray Guarino joined the Yale staff prior to the 2010 season. In recent years he has been instrumental in helping the Bulldogs earn a pair of Ivy League titles (2017 and 2018) and a trip to the NCAA Tournament (2017).

Guarino works primarily with the Bulldogs' infielders and outfielders while assisting with all defensive strategies. In addition to dealing with the defensive aspects of the game, he also serves as Yale's first base coach.

He also has served as head coach for the Hamden, Conn., Post 88 American Legion, and spent the summer of 2020 managing the New Britain Bees in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League.

Guarino has more than two decades years of college and high school coaching experience. Prior to Yale, he spent two seasons at Foran High School in Milford, Conn., before moving on to West Haven High School in West Haven, Conn., where he played an integral part in helping the Blue Devils to the 2009 Connecticut state championship and the No. 1 overall ranking in Connecticut.

In the summer, Guarino is responsible for running Coach Stuper's World Class Baseball Summer Camp for kids, ages 7-12. Guarino has been with World Class Sports since 1998.

In addition to coaching baseball, Guarino has spent more than 20 years teaching seventh grade at All Saints Catholic Academy in New Haven, Conn.  During the winter, Guarino has also officiated high school basketball for Board 10 New Haven County and a few area recreational leagues.

Guarino is a 2000 graduate of Southern Connecticut State with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He lives in Milford with his wife, Jackie.
