Before Yale: A three-year starter in both football and baseball at Ooltewah High School... Recorded an overall record of 13-1 in his final two seasons with a 1.69 ERA as a junior and a 1.07 ERA as a senior, pitching in both clinching games in leading the Owls to back-to-back District 5-AAA championships... Named to the Southeast Tennessee All-District Team as a starting pitcher and was also named to the Tennessee All-Star Team... Earned a Perfect Game Southeast Team Honorable Mention selection and pitched in the Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Game... Played summer baseball for the Chattanooga Cyclones and earned the team’s Pitcher of the Year award... Also ranked as the fifth best pitcher for the Southeast Perfect Game tournament... An honors student at Ooltewah High School, where he maintained a 3.9 grade point average... Member of the Beta Club and the National Honor Society.
