NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale coed sailing team will send yet another large contingent of sailors out to different events this weekend. Nineteen members of the team will represent Yale sailing at women's and coed regattas across the northeast.

Competing at the major interconference regatta of the weekend held at the Coast Guard Academy, the Danmark trophy, will be juniors Nick Hernandez and Kira Woods starting in A division with senior skipper Casey Klingler and first-year crew Claudia Loiacono sailing B division. This will be the toughest event of the weekend – each interconference regatta could be used for scheduling points that allows the team to choose the best schedule starting in the next calendar year.

Sailing up in New Hampshire at the Hewitt Trophy during the beginning of foliage season will be first year skipper Shawn Harvey in A division with senior KB Knapp crewing for him. Senior captain Malcolm Lamphere and sophomore Graceann Nicolosi will sail B division while sophomore Louisa Nordstrom will skipper for senior Chris Champa in C division.

At the Smith Trophy held at MIT, an entirely first-year team consisting of Nicholas Marwell, Emery Wallace, Martin Tipton and Kathleen Wells will sail in A and B division, respectively.

Conditions for each event will likely be considerably shifty as every venue is a small body of water surrounded by either hills or city buildings. The breeze looks to be light to moderate over the weekend.

This weekend will mark a halfway point until the conference championships in dinghies in late October. The Bulldogs will be looking to see where they stand among other teams, and learn what they need to work on going forward.
