Martim Anderson is a 2018 graduate of Roger Williams University and joined the Yale Sailing Program in the fall of 2018 as an assistant coach. Anderson grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, where he excelled as a Laser sailor. He was the Portuguese Laser Radial National Champion in 2014 and then decided to pursue his education in the United States. He competed in five national championships for the Hawks, highlighted by a second-place finish at the Team Race Nationals in 2018. He was first team All-NEISA and All-American his senior year.
Anderson finished on the podium at the US Team Race Nationals (Hinman Trophy) in 2017 and 2018, and at several other team race majors including the Charles River Open and Midwinters.
Before starting his career as a collegiate coach, Anderson coached the BVI team at the U-21 Laser Worlds in 2017. In the summers of 2017 and 2018 he coached the Laser team at Noroton Yacht Club.
