Sears To Play In 2016 Reese’s College All Star Game

Game Scheduled For Final Four Friday In Houston

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Justin Sears isn't quite done with his collegiate playing career. Sears has been selected to play in the 2016 Reese's College All Star Game at NRG Stadium in Houston.

The game features 20 of the finest senior college basketball players from NCAA Division I playing on the NCAA Final Four floor. It is played as part of events during Final Four Friday, which includes practices by all four of the teams playing in the semifinals on Saturday.

Sears, a two-time Ivy League Player of the Year, finished his outstanding career at Yale on Saturday when the Bulldogs were eliminated by Duke in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He will graduate third in school history with 1,700 career points, fourth with 814 rebounds and second with 200 blocked shots.

Sears is the first two-time Ivy Player of the Year in school history and the first back-to-back winner in the league since Penn's Ibrahim Jaaber in 2006 and 2007. In addition, he was named first team All-Ivy for the third straight season, Yale's first three-time selection since Chris Dudley (1985-87).

This season Sears has been among the national leaders in offensive rebounds throughout the year and is in the top-10 in the Ivy League in a number of categories, including scoring (6th, 15.7 ppg.), rebounding (5th, 7.5 rpg.), field goal percentage (5th, .526), assists (9th, 2.8 per game), blocked shots (2nd 1.7 per game) and offensive rebounds (1st, 3.7 per game).

Sears also has been recognized for his success off the court. He is one of 10 finalists for the 2015-16 Senior CLASS Award in men's collegiate basketball. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. The Senior CLASS Award recipient will be announced during the 2016 NCAA Men's Final Four®

Among the recent players in the game who have gone on to NBA rosters are Lavoy Allen (Temple) - Philadelphia 76ers; Jimmy Butler (Marquette) - Chicago Bulls; Kenneth Faried (Morehead State) - Denver Nuggets; and Andrew Goudelock (College of Charleston) - Los Angeles Lakers.
