DERBY, Conn. -- It was yet another kind day of autumn weather for the 2018 running of the Head of the Housatonic regatta, the Yale lightweights' season opener. The lightweights had four eights entered in the Men's Collegiate Eight event, and raced against heavyweight entries from Brown, Marist and Northeastern in addition to their Gilder Boathouse heavyweight counterparts. Yale LWT 'A' finished 8th in 13:47.1; Yale LWT 'B' 10th in 13:57.2; Yale LWT 'C' 13th in 14:09.7 and Yale LWT 'D' 15th in 14:24.4 to round off a strong morning of racing.

The morning racing was followed by the One Yale Crew program on the dock, featuring remarks from the three Gilder programs' head coaches and the new Thomas A. Beckett Director of Athletics Vicky Chun. The three 2018-2019 captains were introduced, and the heavyweights were lauded for their remarkable 2018 National Championship season.

The afternoon concluded with six eights of past lightweight oarsmen taking to the river for the alumni races.

The lightweights will now prepare for their fall season finale: two lightweight eights and two lightweight fours will race at the 54th Head of the Charles Regatta in Cambridge, Mass., in two weeks' time.
