NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Sunday, eight members of the Yale men's fencing team will travel to Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass., where they will compete in the Northeast Regional Championships.

Three foilists will be competing: sophomore Aiden Ahn, first-year Cameron Allen and junior Daniel Flesch.

Seeded at seventh, junior epeeist Jonathan Xu is the top-ranked Yale fencer going into the tournament. He will be joined by squadmates Malcolm Miller and Isaac Shelanski, who are both sophomores.

Only two saber fencers will be entering the Northeast Regionals: junior Walter Musgrave and first-year Sam Rooney.

While most competitions during the season are team-based, in Regionals, the results will be calculated individually, with the top-finishing fencers moving on to the NCAA Championships. Last year, three Yale fencers accomplished this feat: Aiden Ahn, Walter Musgrave and Isaac Shelanski. The Northeast Regional Championships is a notoriously challenging tournament. Remembering the competition last year, Aiden Ahn said, "It will be tough and I wish everyone the best of luck."

Men's foil begins as 8:30 a.m., followed by men's epee at 9:30 a.m. and men's saber at 12 p.m..
