NEW HAVEN, CT – The Yale men's tennis team competed in the first day of the Ivy Plus championships today. The tournament is taking place both in New Haven, Connecticut at Yale as well as in Princeton, NJ at Princeton University, with Yale players competing at both locations. At Yale, Cody Lin, Dennis Wang, Nathan Brown and Arnav Dhingra competed. At Princeton, Michael Sun, Dylan King, Ryan Cheng and Alan Sou competed.

In doubles play, Bulldogs Cody Lin and Dennis Wang fell 8-4 to Harvard's Bo Leschly and Andrew Ball while senior captain Nathan Brown and first-year Arnav Dhingra lost 8-5 to the Crimson's Steven Sun and Will Peters. In singles, Dhingra and Lin, two promising young talents, responded well, as they came out victorious in each of their matches. Dhingra defeated Harvard's Peters 7-5, 6-4 while Lin defeated Brown's Sam Hearst in a three-set match, eventually dominating the third set in a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win. Brown and Wang fell in tough 6-3, 6-4 matches to Harvard opponents.

Although the Bulldogs at Princeton faced difficult losses in singles play, the team had powerful victories in both doubles matches. Junior studs Dylan King and Ryan Cheng beat out St. John's University's Luka Sucevic and Andrei Crapcenko in an 8-5 match to advance to the semifinals in their draw. The young duo of sophomore Alan Sou and first-year Michael Sun powered through in a convincing 6-2 victory against University of Minnesota's Kaleb Dobbs and Sebastian Vile. The pair will advance to the semifinals in their draw as well, where they will face Harvard's duo of Harris Walker and Samuel Beren. King and Cheng will face Cornell's Lev Kazakov and Evan Bynoe in the next round.

The team will compete again tomorrow at both locations as Yale looks to advance further in the tournament. At the Yale location, doubles play begins at 10 A.M. and Singles play begins at 2 P.M.
