LEXINGTON, Ky. - On the first day of the NCAA East Prelims on Thursday, senior James Randon and sophomore Trevor Reinhart advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals in the 1500-meter run. This is the second consecutive year that Randon, who placed eighth in the NCAA Championships last year, has advanced to the quarterfinal meet.
Randon and Reinhart both qualified by placing in the top 5 in their respective heats. Randon placed fifth in his heat, while Reinhart placed second. Overall, Randon had the 19th-fastest qualifying time, at 3:50.87, and Reinhart ran the 21st-fastest time, clocking in at 3:50.93.
Senior Marc-Andre Alexandre also ran on Thursday night, missing out on a quarterfinal berth in the 400-meter dash by less than half a second. This brings an end to Alexandre's record-breaking career at Yale.
On Friday, junior Paedyn Gomes will compete in the 110-meter hurdles.
