Alington Paul joined James Jones' staff as an assistant coach in June of 2021.

Paul spent three seasons on the staff at Boston University prior to coming to Yale. During his tenure, BU captured the 2020 Patriot League Tournament title, earned the league’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and posted the first victory over an SEC opponent at South Carolina.

In his first year at BU, Paul served as the video coordinator and director of player development, overseeing all aspects of the video editing systems while also creating scouting reports, highlight films and playbooks.  In addition, he served as the point contact for the summer camps and executed community service initiatives, including the team’s partnership with Team IMPACT, a national nonprofit that connects children facing serious and chronic illnesses with local college athletic teams.

Paul was then named the director of operations prior to the 2019-20 season. He oversaw the daily operations of the schedule, coordinated all travel, including flights, hotels, buses and meals, worked directly with Under Armour to coordinate all apparel and equipment and created academic and athletic schedules for the entire program.

Paul joined the Terriers in the summer of 2018 after serving two years as an assistant coach at Putnam Science Academy and two years as a graduate assistant at Castleton University, where he earned his master’s degree in athletic leadership in 2016.

Paul, a Long Island, N.Y., native, played two seasons at Wells College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2014 after completing his associates degree from SUNY Delhi. As a junior he helped Wells reach the NEAC Title game. He was named to the school's All-Decade Team (2010-19) in July of 2020.

At SUNY Delhi, Paul helped the Broncos win a pair of NJCAA Mountain Valley Conference Championships in his two years. In his second season, the team finished third in the NJCAA Division III National Tournament.
