Biography

AT YALE: Abromaitis was one of the team''s most improved players last year. After appearing in 12 games in his first two years, he played in 24 games off the bench in 2005-06. At the post season team banquet, he was presented with the Josh Hill Award for hard work and dedication. His top performance came against Hartford when he scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds in 20 minutes, all career highs. Against Columbia, he had three points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal in nine minutes. On Yale''s trip to Spain last spring, he averaged 10.8 points, which was second on the team. As a sophomore, Abromaitis appeared in nine games. He made his first career three-pointer against Columbia and grabbed two rebounds against Niagara. In his rookie year, he played a season-high four minutes in the victory over Old Westbury and had two points and a rebound. His only field goal came in the win at Dartmouth. BEFORE YALE: Abromaitis was the Gatorade Connecticut Player of the Year following his senior year at Farmington High School. He averaged 26.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists. In addition, he was a two-time all-state and All-Northwest Conference selection and was a McDonald''s All-American nominee. PERSONAL: Jason, born on Nov. 23, 1985, is the son of James and Debra Abromaitis. His father played college basketball at the University of Connecticut and professionally for the New Jersey Nets. At Yale he is a political science/economics major.
