Before Yale: TAPPS (largest private school association in Texas) first team all-state selection as a senior at Nolan Catholic High School… District Offensive Player of the Year… Three-time first team all-district selection… Averaged 18.2 points, four assists, 3.5 rebounds and two steals per game as a senior… Shot 84 percent from the free throw line as a junior which led all private schools in Texas… Helped Nolan Catholic reach the championship game of the state tournament as a junior where it lost in overtime to a team led by NBA lottery pick Julius Randle…Played for FV 5:17 and Texas Select AAU teams…With the Select, started alongside two 2015 NBA lottery selections - Emmanuel Mudiay, who was taken by the Denver Nuggets with the seventh pick, and Myles Turner, who the Indiana Pacers selected with the 11th pick.
Personal: Volunteered at Mission Arlington, a local food bank… Grandfather attended Berkeley Divinity School at Yale, graduating in 1955… Father was born in New Haven… Son of Karen and Greg Russell.
