Charlene Liu

Charlene (Kai) Liu joined the Yale fencing staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2022. They are a graduate of Princeton where they were a member of the fencing team.

Since the 2022-23 season, Liu has helped the Bulldogs to three top-11 finishes at the NCAA Fencing Championships. They has coached six All-Americans, eight All-Ivy competitors, and two Ivy League Champions (Jordan Silberzweig, Kristina Petrova.)
 
At Princeton, Liu finished second at the 2016 NCAA Championships, was first at the 2017 Mid-Atlantic Regionals, and earned All-America and First Team All-Ivy recognition. They helped lead Princeton to two Ivy League championships.
 
Prior to Princeton, Liu was a member of the 2014 USA Cadet world team, which finished 10th at the World Championships.
 
Following graduation from Princeton, they worked at the Medeo Fencing Club as an epee coach.
