Slava Grigoriev joined the Yale fencing staff in September 2024 as an assistant foil coach.
In 2025-2026, Grigoriev helped the men's team to a third-place finish at the Ivy League Championship, the team's best result since 2019. The Bulldogs were especially successful in foil with Yonjae Kim winning the Ivy League Title in the event and earning conference Rookie of the Year accolades. Four foil athletes qualified for the NCAA Championships with Kristina Petrova and Kim earning All-American status.Â
Grigoriev is a two-time Olympian and world cup medalist. He has coached athletes that have gone on to win Cadet and Junior World Championships as well as Pan-American and Asian Championships. He has also led athletes to NCAA and Ivy League titles.
