3 QUESTIONS FOR BORTEY

Biggest soccer influences and why? "My father has been my biggest soccer influence because he was my very first coach and has given me many tips in the art of goalkeeping. He always encourages me to play and enjoy the game I love."

Do you have an idol or hero? "My soccer idol would be Thierry Henry. I love his style because he seemed to enjoy the game when he was on the pitch, and it truly reflected in his performances. Not only was he one of the greatest players to ever play the game, but he also respected the game and competed with great passion. I wear No. 14 because of Thierry Henry."

Why Yale? "Yale provides the balance of academics and athletics that I am looking for in college. The prestigious academic reputation of Yale is unique. The coaches are very nice and I made an immediate connection when I met them. I feel that Yale gives me the best opportunity to develop as a person and explore the many academic opportunities present while also competing athletically at a high level."
