Bill Schmid

Schmid joined Kylie Stannard’s staff in the spring of 2019. In his first season, the Bulldogs finished with a 13-3-2 overall record. The 13 wins equaled the school record set in 1999. Yale won its first Ivy League title since 2005 with a 6-1 record, which matched the best league record set by the 1989 team. The Bulldogs then advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2005.

Schmid has been part of successful programs throughout his young coaching career. At Amherst as an assistant in 2018, he helped the Mammoths to 14 victories, including two in the NCAA Tournament, while also serving as the recruiting coordinator.

Schmid joined the Amherst staff after spending two seasons at Springfield College, including serving as the Interim Head Coach in the spring of 2018. Springfield posted an impressive 33-3-4 record during his tenure.

Schmid holds both a bachelor’s degree in physical education and a master’s degree in sports psychology from Springfield. He was a four-year starter for the men’s soccer team, including serving as team captain as a senior.
