3 QUESTIONS FOR LOBE
Biggest soccer influences and why? "Phillip Lahm has been one of my biggest soccer influences. As a fullback for Bayern Munich, he was adept at turning defense into attack, and he was able to control the tempo of the game even from his position."
Do you have an idol or hero? "One of the people I greatly admire is the poet Langston Hughes. I admire Hughes for the awareness he brought to Black culture and art at a time when the Civil Rights movement was taking off. I also admire his poetry – not only his poems that highlight many of the race issues apparent during his time, such as `Theme For English B,' but also his other beautiful and simple pieces like `Dreams.'"
Why Yale? "Yale offers me a place that overflows with history, tradition and highly motivated students. I love the small-school feel – the communities within communities. More than anything, though, Yale offers me an opportunity to find a great balance between the sport I love and the growth and pursuit of my interests in philosophy, literature and history."
