2017: Fifth in the Ivy League in goals against average (1.12)... Started eight games... Three shutouts tied for the fifth most in the league... Posted back-to-back shutouts vs. Howard and Hartford.
2016: Seventh in the Ivy League with 41 saves… Started 13 games… Posted shutouts in wins over Sacred Heart and Cornell… Made six saves, matching his season high, in a tie with Michigan.
2015: Tied for the Ivy League lead in saves per game (5.0)… Started eight games in goal… Made a season-high nine saves at Princeton… First career victory came against Quinnipiac.
High School: Did not allow a goal splitting time in net as a senior at Conestoga High School… Helped team post a 12-3-3 overall record and advance to the district quarterfinals… In his junior season Conestoga went 18-6-1 and reached the state quarterfinals.
Club Soccer Notes: Played for the Lower Merion Lightning, the 2014 Disney Soccer Showcase champions.
Personal: Son of Adri and Peggy Schipper… Mother played basketball at Penn State… Brother Kyle rowed crew at Lehigh… Career ambition is engineering.
2 QUESTIONS WITH SCHIPPER
Who is your biggest soccer influence and why?
My dad. He was born in the Netherlands where soccer is their national sport. He got me playing soccer when I was five, kept me interested in soccer all of my life and helped my drive to get better. Another influence would be Thom Schauerman, my goalkeeper coach, who I started training with the summer of my freshman year in high school. He has helped me work to reach the skill level I''m at today and brought me in to try out for Lower Merion, pulling me out of a dead end club where I wouldn''t have been seen by college coaches.
Why did you select Yale?
Because of the friendly, calm attitude of the coaches as well as their ambition, the reputation of Yale for academic excellence and the chance to play Division I soccer. The combination of these conditions seem like an opportunity too good to pass up. If felt Yale to be a place I could succeed academically and athletically.
Coach Stannard On Schipper: "One of the most important traits I look for in a goalkeeper is presence and this is not just about size or communication but a certain confidence and calmness which I noticed from Kees the first time I saw him. It doesn''t hurt that he is 6''4" and wears size 15 boots. Kees'' father is from the Netherlands and his mother was a varsity basketball player at Penn State so he brings a soccer and athletic pedigree. Kees also moves pretty well for his size and is pretty comfortable with the ball at his feet. He has been trained well and has some tools that provide an excellent foundation for the future. Kees will have his work cut out for him but will have a chance to compete right away."
