2022: Appeared in two games... Male recipient of the Yale Athletic Department's 2022-23 Molly Meyer Humanitarian Award, given annually to male and female senior student-athletes whose character exemplifies selfless devotion along with compassion and concern for their team and the community at Yale and beyond.
2021: Appeared in 12 games and started four… Assisted on the tying goal in a 1-1 draw with then No. 3 New Hampshire.
2020: Season canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic
2019: Appeared in 16 games… Made his first career start in the game at Colgate… Played nine minutes off the bench cs. Boston College in the NCAA Tournament.
Academy: Played for Atlanta United FC Academy… Club was the 2017 USSDA national champions and a national championship finalist in 2018.
High School: Played one season at North Gwinnett High School.
Club: Played for Atlanta United FC, which captured regional championships in 2014 and 2015 and was a 2015 national championship finalist.
ODP: Regional and national ODP team experience… Took trips to Arizona, Mexico and Costa Rica with regional team and Argentina with national team.
Personal: Son of Keith and Alisa Toney… Member of the Gwinnett Student Leadership Team, a 2.5-year commitment to a highly exclusive leadership team that lead initiatives and events at their respective schools.
2 QUESTIONS FOR TONEY
Biggest soccer influence? “My best friend, Justin Robinson, introduced me to soccer when we were in Pre-K. I decided to register for soccer, and I have played ever since. Recently, Justin fractured his hip for the third time and told me he was not going to continue playing competitively. It was an unfortunate event, but his circumstance motivates me to reach that much further in my soccer career.”
Why Yale? “To be a student athlete, I have to be a student first. Since Yale offers the best academics in the country, it was an obvious top choice. After meeting with Coach Kylie Stannard, I realized that his philosophy was appealing. This school is the perfect circumstance for me as I can receive the best education and take part in a soccer program with immense potential.”
