Ludlum, Jr. ’62 Memorial Award for his constant display of enthusiasm, perseverance and team spirit, alongside classmate John Huang.
2011-12 Season (Junior): Posted a 9-4 singles record in the fall … Reached the singles final of the USTA/ITA Regional Championship … Went 9-3 in doubles in the fall … Also reached the doubles final of the USTA/ITA Regional Championship … Highlight of fall season was winning the “A” doubles draw of the Princeton Farnsworth Invitational alongside classmate Daniel Hoffman … Went 9-11 in singles in the spring playing mostly at the No. 1 position … Highest national singles ranking was No. 62 … Posted a 17-5 record in doubles in the spring at the No. 1 position partnering Hoffman … Went 5-2 in Ivy League doubles play along with Hoffman, which was tied for the best record among Ivy League No. 1 doubles teams … Unanimously named First Team All-Ivy in doubles.
2010-11 Season (Sophomore): Finished the fall with an 11-3 singles record and 8-2 doubles record … Highlight of the fall in singles was reaching the finals at the Farnsworth/Princeton Invitational in September … Won the finals in doubles at the USTA Billy Jean King National Tennis Center Men’s College Invitational with Daniel Hoffman in the fall... Played No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles in spring... Named First Team All-Ivy in Singles... Named First Team All-Ivy in Doubles...
2009-10 Season (Freshman): Ivy League Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, first player ever to win both awards in the same season … Northeast Regional ITA Rookie of the Year … Unanimous first team All-Ivy League in singles … Finished with a 29-9 singles record, 11-5 in the fall and 18-4 in the spring … Reached the finals of the 2009 Wilson/ITA DI Northeast Regional Championships in the fall … Competed in singles at the ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at Yale’s Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in the fall, losing in the first round … Highlight of the spring was defeating No. 57 Ivan Salec from Radford University at a dual match … Went 19-11 in doubles, 6-2 in the fall and 13-9 in the spring.
Before Yale: Finished his junior career ranked among the top 20 in the nation.... Had been ranked No. 1 in New England in his age group for seven straight years … In November 2008 won both singles and doubles at the National Open in Albany, N.Y. … In December 2008, teamed up with John Huang and took the doubles title at the USTA Winter Super Nationals in Phoenix … First gold ball for each player … Won the Colonel Bernard Gorfinkle Award in Feb. 2009, given by the USTA New England Division for outstanding sportsmanship.
