Guthrie Braun joined the Yale athletics staff in September 2026 as an assistant coach for the coed and women's sailing teams.
Braun graduated from Brown University with a bachelor's degree in economics. During his timeat Brown, Braun earned ICSA All-America honors three times, was named to the All-NEISAÂ team three times, and was named Academic All-Ivy his senior year.
As a four year starter, he competed across many disciplines, including single-handed, match
racing, fleet racing, and team racing. There he earned many honors, including first at the 2023 Match Race Nationals, second at the 2024 Match Race Nationals, second at the 2024 Singlehanded Nationals, first at the 2026 Open Fleet Race Nationals, and top five at Team Race Nationals over all four years.
Outside of College, Braun competed in the ILCA 7 as a member of the US Sailing Olympic Development Program, and earned several national honors during his time.
He has also coached for the St Petersburg Yacht Club in his home of St Petersburg. There he worked with their Optimist, ILCA, and High school Sailing teams
