NORMAL, Ill. – After cruising to their most emphatic win of the season at home on Sunday against Vermont, the Yale Bulldogs fly to Illinois for a meeting with the Illinois State Redbirds.

This will be the second all-time meeting between these two programs. Yale defeated Illinois State at home last season 60-47 on Dec. 16, 2015.

Senior Lena Munzer leads Yale with 16 points per game this season while junior Jen Berkowitz ranks second with 10.5 points per game to go along with a team-high 8 rebounds per game. Both players were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll this week for their stellar play. Munzer also received the honor last week. Both players will look to maintain their level of play to lead Yale to its first road win of the season.

Although this is one of Yale's farthest games from home this year, it will not feel that way for everyone on the team. Both Munzer and Joel E. Smilow '54 head coach Allison Guth grew up in Illinois. Guth also played for the University of Illinois and coached at both DePaul and Northwestern.

The Redbirds are off to a 2-1 start, marking the first time they have been above .500 since the end of the 2012-13 season. A win over Yale would also mark their first 3-game winning streak since 2013. Illinois State finished 7th in the Missouri Valley Conference last season at 8-22 (6-12 in conference play). So far this season, the Redbirds' only loss came at nationally ranked Arizona State.

Taylor Stewart has stepped up in her senior season, scoring a career-high 24 points and tying a program record with seven 3-pointers in Illinois State's win over Valparaiso on Saturday. The Illinois State roster also features six freshmen, so this will be a significantly different Redbirds team than the one Yale faced last season.

Yale returns to the court after Thanksgiving with a game at Holy Cross on Sunday.
